I hope this finds all of you doing well and enjoying the warming weather! As you read the title of this post, you may be wondering (or guessing!) what I am up to. :) Well........ After almost 13 years (that's a long time!) I am shutting the doors on this website/blog and redirecting my artistic endeavors. Over the last couple of years, I have found that fiber art does not tug at my heart as much as it used to and instead, I find myself excited to work with more varied or mixed media. Here are some examples of some of my recent work: As you can see, I'm not throwing in the towel on my art. If anything, it's the opposite! I am excited about the new trajectory of my work and the opportunities that I can pursue!! At this point you may have some questions, so I'll try to guess what they might be: Will I still use fiber (fabrics, yarns, threads) in my work? Probably from time to time. That's the beauty of mixed media! Will I make fiber art pieces/art quilts in the future? I might, but again, this is where I appreciate the umbrella of mixed media! Am I pursuing any exhibition opportunities with my new work? YES! In fact I have two pieces that I just completed for a call for entry this week! Will I have a new website/blog? This one, I am still working through. While I have enjoyed having my website and being able to keep you all up to date with what I'm working on through my blog, at times, I have found myself struggling a bit to keep up with it all. That said,. I will keep you posted! How can we stay in touch? For now, I have a NEW email address that you can use to reach me: kwmixedmedia@gmail.com I cannot begin to say thank you enough to all of you who have faithfully kept up with me all of these years and have offered kind words, thoughtful questions and encouragement!!!
You all have been a blessing to me and please don't hesitate to keep in touch! For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

I know... I know! It's been forever since I've posted, and I'm sorry about that! Over the last few months, life has been all sorts of happy and sad things rolled up together, but let's focus on the happy, shall we? My youngest will be walking down the aisle in just a few weeks to marry a wonderful young man! As I have been grappling will all of the emotions that seem to come with this experience and "empty nesting," I have also been helping to coordinate, "Connections," a new show for the Art Quilters with Altitude at the Sluice in Colorado Springs. I will have four pieces in the show and despite how busy I've been lately, it was fun to try some new things. :) I combined some of my mixed media techniques with my fiber art. Here are quick snap shots of two of the four pieces: The show will run from August 4th-25th, so if you are in the area, please stop by! |
